Whether holidaymakers are after a seaside break, mountain climbing or a vacation that includes history and culture, they are sure to find it in Corsica.
The island, which can be found south-east of France, west of Italy and north of Sardinia, is a popular destination that is famous for its beauty.
Expect to speak both French and Corsu on the island as it is one of France's 26 regions yet the islanders are fiercely independent and watchful of their own culture.
It has a number of mountains, including Monte Cinto, which at 2,076 metres will challenge even the experienced hiker.
Corsica is also a great destination for sun seekers as it has more than 200 beaches spread along 620 miles of coastline.
Most people associate the island with its most famous son, Napoleon Bonaparte, and no visit to the island would be complete without a trip to Casa Buonaparte - Napoleon's ancestral home.
Visitors wont be short of things to do in Corsica, the island offers fantastic swimming, snorkeling, wind-surfing and scuba diving and for those who are after relaxation, the golden sandy beaches and secluded spots are a good option.
Adrenaline-seekers may want to attempt a mountain climb on a visit and those who are both daring and experienced could tackle the island's most exhilarating climb, the GR20.
There are also a number of gentler hikes and walks to suit all abilities.
Kayaking, paddling and travelling through the river rapids are also popular activities on Corsica and the Scandola Nature Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is accessible only by boat, is another attraction.
The food on the island is exceptional and gourmet cheese, wine, sausages and honey, which are all produced locally, are worth a taste.
One of the main highlights to a Corsican holiday is a visit to the seaside town of Ajaccio, where Napoleon was born, and here visitors will find museums telling them more about the historic leader, designer boutiques and restaurants along the waterfront.
It is a great place to base a trip to the island, but there are a number of other towns that are also worth a visit.
The vibrant port town Bonifacio, with its clifftop citadel and the medieval maze of streets and houses that surround it, is a great place to go to and the old port Bastia, often called a mini Marseilles, is popular with tourists.
In the centre of the island the Corsican culture can be found and any trip to the island should include a trip to the centre.
